Shorinji Zendo-ryu Karate

On the way to Enlightenment, I had many Kenshos.  A Kensho is a flash of light from within (in light ment).  It is not just turning on a light in a room, but is a short, hot penetrating laser beam focused on a particular subject or aspect of Truth.

These flashes of insight and the knowledge from the great Karate Masters I trained with, led me to the founding of  the Zendo-ryu Karate Association InternationalTM , acronym ZENDOKAITM.  I was not founding a style of Karate, but founding an organization that would preserve, protect. and propogate (the 3 P's) the essence and science of true technique with the original philosophy of the Shorinji (Shaolin Temple) of Chan and Taoism.  This is being written on the 40th year of ZENDOKAI's TM
founding, and my 60th year of training.

Interesting note:  KAI in Japanese translates to organization.  So, ZENDOKAITM is also an organization to sustain Zendo, the Zen way.

Interesting note:  The very place I studied and meditatated on the the way of Zen at the Sojiji Monastery of my sponsor, Roshi Taizan Maezumi, was named 'The Zendo.'

On my 45th anniversary of teaching, I was asked to be in Black Belt Magazine's 45th Anniversary Edition.  This edition featured well-known masters,  and included a six-page all color section on Shorinji Zendo-ryu Karate and Aikijujitsu, March, 2007.  Some of the other magzines I have been featured in over a 40-year period, are listed in http://zendoryukarate.com/.
